This is an under road tunnel that is designed for children to use to get to school safely. I saw this the other night, and decided to come back and try some shots. This was taken about 6:30 AM! It was freezing!

This is an experimental crop. I have some other shots with more traditionaal view where the tunnel takes up 2/3 the width, but a friend really liked this angle. We'll give it a go and see what it does.

Greetings from the Critique Club, Danny!

Composition: Very interesting. At a first glance I also would have said, that you should have cropped more from the right side. But then I realised that the patterns on the wall are quite interesting. But there is something about the composition which feels odd. I think using the rule of thirds would improve the photo. The centering doesn't fit here. I don't know if it would have been technically possible, but instead of cropping from the right I would like to see more from the left side. Then there also could be seen more of the darker area on the left, which corresponds the the right side.

Lighting: I guess the red colour comes from a wrong or no white balance setting. I don't know of that was intentional but I would like it be more "natural". I know it's a bit silly because for this subject it does not matter if it's red, yellow, blue or green. But the red just _looks_ like a technical "error". While testing some different crops I also changed the hue a little (+16) which results in a more golden/yellow tone. I think that's much better.
The "star" effect created by the small aperture is nice.

Focus: Generally ok. 1/2s exposure time, so you surely used a tripod. I can't make out where the camera focussed, but the foliage could be a bit sharper.

Challenge: Met. A deeper tunnel would have had more impact, but it certainly fits to the challenge theme.

Creativity: Well, not overly creative, but not totally boring either.

If you have questions just send me an Email. I'll happily discuss this more.

excellent perspective shot... I really like the exposure effect on the lights here... it adds a 'mystical' theme to the tunnel :) - setzler

This is a very interesting shot. From the thumbnail it looks like an eye of some sort. Very nice!

Good perspective shot. I like the starring of the two farther lights and wonder why the closer one didn't do it, too. Lighting - a tad dark, but probably best for this subject (is that waldo at the end of the tunnel, standing in the darkness? joke) Color - honestly hard to say, no frame of reference, but it looks pretty good. Focus - also seems pretty good. Interest - moderate, nothing dramatic or really eye catchy, but not totally boring either. 8 Swash

Great photo. I love the visual impace the strong colouring gives, and the composition leads the eye really well to the centre. It does seem to me that the centre could be a little sharper however, but still a good strong 10.

Odd how the composition of this is ultimately centred, but it doesn't feel as though it is. I really like the colours in this photo, and the sense of barrenness. I don't know how you took this without being terrified! This space scares me. I'd hate to be alone in there at night. High marks for being so evokative.

nice colors... neat concept and exectution is good. I would probably crop out the right side some more. the extra dark area doesn't add to the composition.. a more square frame would benefit this.

I really like this a lot. The colors are awesome and the exposure is dead on. You might have been able to crop just a bit of the right hand side. Really nice.

Nice take on perspective, and I enjoy the burnt orange color, but I wish this tunnel were longer, creating an ever stronger feeling of perspective.

The color tones are wonderful ! The tunnel being in thirds makes for a perfect photo. Your lighting is great. This is well done and meets the challenge well. = 10
