Hi commenters,
Just to answer a few points...
I choose to focus on names that were the same in an attempt to show that millions have died. I also chose the shallow DOF for the same reason. This is a commenorative plauque in Glasgo Central Train Station in Scotland.
Thamks for all the comments and votes

I like the concept but not enough contrast for my taste.

The focus here is on the name John instead of the many names of the men and women who died. Unless this is meant to be an homage to a particular John Bell then I think a wider view and deeper DOF would have helped. 8

Great idea, but why so dark?

Stark. Nice framing.

Great use of depth of focus, and perfect subject matter. The repetition of last and first names if a bit puzzling - perhaps it would have been better to have 4 completely different names,

The part in focus should be less in the middle of the picture. Too symmetrical as it is. Pretty good idea though, and a very clever choice of B/w.

Nice pic. The DOF could be a little deeper imho, but this one also works ok.
