A spur of the minute shot. It felt like it was time to submit a portrait image, something I rarely do, and Robert Bear_music has such an interesting face! I asked him to stand in front of this large piece of art that hangs in our living room. I processed it in a rather harsh style in part as a contrast to the very soft processing he used for his image of me.

Thanks for the comments. Always interesting to get a difference of opinion, as in this case in your views about the background.

PS I now realize that the phone camera with its very wide angle lens results in a distortion of the perspective at the extremes, at this distance. Robert has a long head, but it's not that long!! I didn't pick that up in the rush to get it submitted in time.

I love this portrait and I think that, knowing the Bear electronically, the choice of showing him as part of an intricate design is extremely subtle and appropriate. His mind is a web of info, his eyes are forever searching and forever brooding and the lines on his face are telling a lot of stories.
Showing him like a tapestry (a look that he often favors in his photographic work) is a beautiful tribute.

You're getting a little lost in the shrubbery.

Good portrait of a man who seems to have spent some time standing against the wind - in a character-building way. Soft, ruminative eyes (in a deep thinking way, not in a chewing the cud way). While I like the patterns of the foliage background, it also is somewhat confusing. There's a kind of chameleon effect that I like, and gives the image a visual resonance.

Is this Bear_Music's old mug i see here? ;-)
The beard might be gray, but the hair is still standing tall and dark.

I have a vision of you doing the "snowangel" in those leaves after...
The background looks a little dark. The grain really adds something extra in this portrait. Great you didn't crop your arms out and made a portrait sized portrait :)
7 from me

I would have given it another point if there was more separation from the background. He melds into it too well.
