Haha...Thank you for all the lovely comments on this photo...

What I'm laughing at is that I finally found some farm animals on our camping trip coming back from the Solar Eclipse in Georgia. We stopped and I clicked off a few shots. Whooping to get their attention. This beauty turned toward me (probably thinking...great another tourist!!!) while all the others must have heard the dinner bell as they were all heading out of the field.

I'm very pleased and surprised at my score. Thank you again!!!

Oh, and as to the cropping. I really lost the "feel" when I cropped down to a portrait. So I choose a more open crop for grass/lighting and cow. Mind you it was what I originally had in mind for this shot especially since I missed her rear end!!! lol

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that meets the challenge fully

Congratulations for your high score and placing Janine. What a magnificent beast. Technically the shot has perfect DOF and is equally well focused so that the animal stands out nicely from the soft background together with good detail where it matters. Your chosen crop has been commented upon and whilst I don’t have major issues with it I think I would have preferred a portrait orientation with it cropped just behind the front foreleg together with more grass at the base.

Congrats on the HM. I'm hoping the dinner is the grass and not the cow!

Nice soft light on the ears. Maybe a little more dodge on the eyes would have brought them out better.

Beautifully backlit. This should do well.

Look at those sweet eyes, how could you say that! I like this one a lot but I think the composition could have been better with the whole cow or just a portrait shot. 8

nice edit! just my opinion but I feel the cow should have been cropped either head and front shoulder, or whole cow showing.

How can you say that to that sweet face? Not sure about the crop here. It seems odd to me. The light is lovely, though.

This is fantastic. I'd give you a 9, but you cut her in half - I feel like a full body shot would have been better, but an easy 8 nonetheless.

Shot like a pro. Just the right DOF in the grassy fields, great composition, and just a mighty fine photo. Top pick, this will take the blue I reckon.
