WOW! I love this challenge, this idea popped into my head as soon as I read the description of the challenge. Originally I was trying to get a small stream to show through a hole in the background poster board with a third strobe but I couldn't get it to do what I had in mind. Yes, I tried capturing the light with smoke also. :) The only thing that really bothers me about this photo is Mr. Incredible's right leg almost blends right into the background.

*** PROCESS ***
+++++++++++++++

Original picture was done in RAW

Processing in Phase One C1:
-The original image was too dark so I adjusted Curves and Levels to brighten it up
-Slight focus increase
-Developed into JPG

Photoshop:
-Cloned out dust spots on glass
-Cloned out other imperfections on "Mr. Incredible"
-After each cloning spot, I followed up with the heal brush over it.
-Cloned out line where the glass meets the background, again healed afterwards
-Saved in JPG quality 12

Brought into NeatImage and applied heavy processing to give it a more plastic look and also make it feel more computer rendered (since the original is computer rendered in the movie)

-Back into Photoshop for additional curves and levels.
-Burned all four corners for a vegnetting effect.
-Dodged eyes to bring them out more.
-One last run through on cloning, cloned out all hot spots from the flashes and heal brush again.
-Cropped and resized
-Very slight USM filter.

I really liked this shot. I was one of the 8's. Why some people disliked it enough to give it a 3 is beyond me. Maybe they didn't see the movie. Great job.

While toys aren't exactly the most .. inspiring subjects ever, you've really pulled off a wonderful photograph here. I love the soft lighting, and the color matching. Great work.

The colour is good, and kinda grabs ya. Since this is obviously a set up shot, and you had time to compose, I'm sorry you cut his feet short. Other than that I'm not too impressed with the use of a doll, but overall you did a good job.

Heroes seem somehow more appropriate framed so dead center yes? Excellent lighting, exposure and focus. 8.

nice lighting. Well done getting Mr. I to stand out so well against a red background. The tiny bit of reflection at the bottom feels odd - perhaps more would be more natural? While well done, not extremely original.
