 When my wife and I were newly married, we always talked about building a house in the country. One thing we both love is campfires, so we knew we wanted a rustic fire pit in the backyard.

A year ago, our house building dream came true when we moved in to our house in the country. But the fire pit didn't exist until fall, when it was too late to really get use.

This spring, we have had terrific weather. The nice weather got me hankering for a fire. A day after the girls turned three, I lit up a fire and had us all sit around it. The kids all loved it. It was probably the longest they have sat in chairs without a screen to keep their butts plopped. They watched the flames. Commented on the smoke. Talked about how hot it was. And just enjoyed it.

Once the coals were nice and hot we brought out the marshmallows and my new roasting sticks. I was going to go for a shot of one with a blurred background, but this shot with all five of us roasting our treats at the same time was simply perfect.

This is going to be a great memory photo for years to come.

Awesome shot and thanks for the story behind it. It will remain a treasured time forever. We enjoyed doing this with our kids and now Grandkids.
