This was taken at the Sunrise High Sierra Camp (9,400') in Yosemite just last week. A very small storm had just finished passing which I was hiding from in my tent. When I, somewhat by accident, caught a glimpse of these colors out of the corner of my eye I was awed by these beautiful colors which I was not expecting to see.

Somebody should call the Sierra Club, alert them to all the wonderful photos in this challenge. It's truly amazing. What a beautiful planet we have to live on. Thanks for posting this shot.
Something I've been noticing on many of these entries is haze...I know your time of day is good from the shadows and long light on the mountains...if you added more contrast but you'd have to mask the trees out so they don't loose their detail
