A few words on the lighting here.

The guitar is sunburst, which means that it's already lighter at the middle and dark at the rims, so it looks like it's brighter in the middle.
The off camera flash was to the right (left of the model), almost 90º to get the split lighting on the face.

Then it's just a matter of bumping up the contrast to give it a b&w feel. Self portrait.

This is very well lit, but I don't understand why the male model is not playing the instrument to typify the sense of hearing. Bumping up anyway.
