Our 9 month old female dog Kaja.
It was extremely hard to make this shot, but funn too. Kaja always though we were playing.
She also did spit out the plastic rose again and again.
I didn't have enough light, hence NeatImage was needed to reduce the noise. Still, the quality is not too good, but I like her expression very much.

I guess thats why I like this shot so much! I like taking pictures of my pets but never thought to set them up like that! So creative thinking! May I borrow you idea?

Critique Club Assignment:

Initial: So cute! My original comment I gave during the voting I think says it all, but I will attempt to be a bit more detailed.

Composition: Nice background, and arrangement. Makes for an adorable subject easy to view at length.

Technical: Too blurry.. even a tad more sharpness would give this a soft focus effect..

Overall: I like the expression on the dog, and the lighting is well done.

Good job overall, still awaiting the reshoot :P

Hi everybody,

Thanx for the many comments, I enjoyed them much!
Here's a little video made by me showing why I could not make it better:
//adams_nentwich.bei.t-online.de/kaja.avi. It's a compilation of the successful pictures I took of our 9-month-old dog Kaja. She never wanted to sit still as you can see.
Therefore and do to my bad light equipment, I had to select a high ISO-value and a too fast shutter-speed to get at least something.
NeatImage and some sharpening were needed to make the image look a little better.
Still, we had a tremendous amount of fun while making the pictures and reading all the comments during voting was fun too.

Jörg

Nice cute composition...but focus could be better, but that's probably from subject movement.

oh.. how cute!!! what a little model! unfortunately this is not as sharp as it could be. Please do it again. I'd love to see it in better focus.. if you can get the dog to cooperate again :)

First thing.. I do not like your border.. THe green is a bit distracting in it! Second, the focus just seems to be a little off! I like the movement of the rose in the dogs mouth. The background also works well here!. Cute doggie! jgillard5

So cute, all dressed up and looking for a man-dog!! True that focus is off, but after seeing all the work you put into it you deserve a medal of honour!! Give Kaja a big hug for me!!

Very cute. I think the photo is a little out of focus though. I really like the comical concept of the photo. Good job.

Out of focus. Good idea however!

This would have been a 10, but the focus is really bad. If it is intentional, I dont like it.

Cute photograph, the composition is good, greeting card style. What is distracting to me is the blur, I think motion but could be focus or both, if it was intentional it was in my opinion overdone.

Shame about the focus -- looked awesome in the thumbnail!

Thanks for the laugh. I really needed it. I still can't quit laughing out loud. this is too much. Even though the focus is a little too soft, I still like it. If I can quit laughing I'll give it a score. I can't believe the dog sat for this one. You take the cake with this one. Too funny.

Excellent picture of the drool on his lower lip! The color of the red flowers and green leaves in the hair are great as the red flower hanging out of his mouth. [or is it a her?] The lighting on the face is pleasing to the eye and makes you focus on the dog's eyes. My only complaint would be that the flower in the dog's mouth is slightly out of focus, but otherwise this is a lovely portrait of your dog!

Is this dog a saint? My gosh he loves you so much and is so patient...what a great dog. Cute shot!!

Composition: Good
Technical: Can't quite tell the filtering you've used, but it looks slightly strange. It looks like you've used sharpening and then smoothing? Border may have looked stronger with the red line black, making it twice as thick.
Meets challenge: Yes
Overall impression: Excellent idea and shot, but post-processing seems a little overdone. 6

This is a nice setup but the focus is too soft for my taste... The shutter speed may have been a tad too long on this one? - setzler

This is such a cute idea and setup. Adorable dog. The quality is just lacking. He's out of focus. The lighting is good but I wouldn't crop so close to his chin on the bottom. I also don't think you need the frame.

would be great if it was in focus
