Hmmmm...this one makes me wonder...is there ever an image that unfolds the unwritten (as opposed to the customarily rewritten) or an opinion delivered about the same?

This image appears to me as shape shifting. A talent I'd like to acquire...;-)

Thanks everyone for taking the time to say something about this image.

To those who were (and to those who, apparently, still are) concerned with a photo crossing the line into digital art:

The shot was a tripod-mounted, remote-released capture at a 500 mm focal length. At this focal length a strong bokeh is what can be expected. Yes, I did apply Smart Blur to further emphasize the existing bokeh and to isolate the crow. That's the full extent of extravagance afforded this image.

The title, by the way, illustrates the ways of crows. Since both the phrase and the attribution are Mark Twain's I expected it would ring familiar to American ears especially.
I also felt it was a title which reflected some signs of the times. ;-)

Should have won in my opinion. There is no distinction between digital photography and digital art no matter what people say. Well done for seeing the picture within the picture.

Nice shot! This is really interesting. The background puzzles me as to how it's done. Looks like maybe a big brush was used in Photoshop to paint the bright areas?? Either way, it's a great angle on the bird.

Wow - now THAT'S a different image. Cool techique, although for my tastes it's a bit too "unreal". More like digital art than photography. Not saying its bad, just that it's not my taste. Kudos for doing something different though!

Is this a photo or digital art...
Oh well, I also get comments about my entry that they think is digital art..
Strange but appealing image...

Usually I don't like over-processed shots, but this one looks super, would like to read about what you did in post processing and see the original. Looks like something from a poetry book or a book cover. Good job

There is a Spanish contemporary artist (whose work I quite like but whose name I can't remember) that does pueblo scenes in the style of your background. For me this is among my top picks in the challenge. The sharp focus on the bird contrasts well with the ultra-soft focus of the background, as do the colors. Composition is wonderful, not just the placement of the bird but also the blurred shapes of the background. Colors are appealing especially during the Fall in N. America. I confess you lost me with the title, but I don't care. Beautiful photo.

This is a great piece of imaginitive artwork: the contrast between detail and impression really works well. Brilliant.

Interesting bokeh. What lens did you use. Nice sharpness on the bird. 7

well the background is WAY to overdone... however it was overdone, softness, or blur.. nice framing of the bird though and good catpure.

This looks more like an oil painting... I'm guessing it was neat-imaged heavily... it's just my opinion, but this is beginning to stray a little too far from actual photography and crossing more into digital art, which is fine for a genre in itself (and this is a nice example of digital art, if that's what you're going for)... but I feel the point of this site is the photography. I do hope you'll post the original when the challenge is over, I'd like to see what the real background looks like. Also, I apologize if I've made any assumptions that aren't correct, and I just want to reiterate that it's just my opinion. I hope you're one that appreciates comments...

The silhouette of the raptor is so powerful it would work against a variety of backgrounds. I think your choice of a paint-effect background works, but some will undoubtedly think it's too heavily processed.

Very moving image. I think your choice of processing really works here, but I don't know if the general DPC crowd will love it or hate it. I will be very interested to see how it does.

hard to rate, thats my opinion......, i like the extra blur on the background (buildings?) but not the color, too depressing.

It's the color tone, and the contrast of the elegance of the bird against the backdrop of the "blocky-looking" buildings that intrigues me about this shot. At first glance, I wasn't sure about it, but the more I look at it, the more it "grows" on me. A very unique perspective.

it's a bloody drawing

The bird itself is awsome! Beautiful wing span, I feel it flying... The colors are nice. I like the idea of the blured city, but I think you overdid it to my taste. Still a very nice shot... I give it an eight!

Hmmm, not quite sure what to do with this one. It's a wonderful image, It would make a great wall hanging but I don't know where your photography lets off and your PS work begins. Photographic talent or just digital talent.
