Ok... I'm really not an... uhh... deep thinking person. *sigh*

I like life... light, happy, and simple.

And I like my DPC challenges the same way.

*sigh again*

I read the challenge topic. Read it again.

Googled "allegory".

Googled "allegory images".

Googled... well... everything allegory.

Checked the forums here...

Then, I gave up.

Then, I said... "Ok... I'll enter. I'll just put some weird stuff together and the voters will just think they're stupid because they don't 'get it'."

They'll think I have some "great meaning" in my image that... they just don't understand (which is how I viewed my understanding (and still do) of the upcoming voting of the images in this "allegory" challenge.

I'm not really "deep".

At all.

No... not at all.

Embarrassingly so.

BUT...

But...

But, I began to think... (really odd for me)...

And I began to think some more.

I decided to try to find some "stuff" that would symbolize the "process/progress" of life.

I had a clock... I had the cow's skull... I had some wine...

I had some more wine...

Ha! Just kidding.

LOL! Oh. Distracted.

Anyway, this is my symbolization/allegorization of Life.

I have meaning for all of the items... Birth, Greed - or... The Fat Years, Chance, Confrontation, Games/Courting, Corporate Games/Confrontation (which I also see as man and woman kissing [both are pregnant], but... we all know that I'm odd), Wrinkles, Erectile Disfunction (I don't have that... yet *grin*), Death...

But at least... surely... some will see the phallic symbol that creates the spark of... LIFE?

I hope so. But, if not... I've ventured to... THINK... today.

I'll need to rest up for the rest of the week, I'm thinkin'.

Just the dice show the entire cycle of life on their own. (I'm at that crazy one's stage... Just before The Decline...)

Surely, folks start with the brightest part of any image (it's what studies show...), the eggs... the beginning of LIFE...

Will anyone "get" it?

I probably wouldn't.

Lovely lighting. Too abstract for me to figure out, but one of my favorites. I am hoping your notes will enlighten me.

Is it just so simple... this story of life and how it keeps going, round and round? The candle serves a double purpose here... good work.

As a classic "Vanity" scene it's somehow recklessly done - more of a gathering of objects than an allegory of life as intended. I market it with a 7 previously and I never go down upon revisiting a picture but to be perfectly honest, I am not taken by it

Hmmm...a lit candle, a pair of eggs, die of varying sizes showing mostly snake eyes, a statue of an angry-looking swine, what looks like a cow skull (though maybe it's a pig skull?) a clove of garlic, the opposing knights from chess, and a small glass flask.

So I'm hazarding that your message is something like: Life can be snuffed as easily as a lit candle. I have garlic so evil spirits and such can't attack me. The knights are good and evil, so they rule each other out. The skull, this is how we will all end up. The swine statue...pig out on life while you can. And the die? Take a gamble. And the empty flask? Drink up, for life is short.

And that's what I have to say about it! 7

I'm not sure I understand all the symbols in the image, but its a fascinating tableau, lit beautifully.
