Challenge: Bizarre Nature (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Location: Outside of Columbus, GA.
Date: Oct 31, 2004
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 1/80
Galleries: Nature, Rural
Date Uploaded: Oct 31, 2004

I looked around for days for a bizarre nature picture. Then on Halloween evening I came across this tree [sun was beginning to set] it looked as if a FACE was rising out of it. By the dimension of the tree it had to be in excess of a hundred years old, as it stood deep within the forest. The shadows from the suns location made it more vivid to me since I was there alone. I felt it was an appropriate picture on Halloween. Then I got out of there!

Took a second to see the head. Hope you don't get voted down by those impatient. 8

Now that's what I call on topic... Good shot
My 1st consideration when judging a photo is how closely it relates to the
challenge topic, next originality and photo technique & quality are equally
judged.

Took me a little to see a head looking off the the right, but I now like this shot a lot. Great job seeing this interpretation.

What I like:
- an interesting formation of branches and leaves
- I think I see the face
What I dislike:
-The tilt, seems to be contrary to the calmness of a tree :)
-The colours, well if the light was so bright and there was no way you could enhance the colours by a different angle or tie of exposure or a filter or ps, then you should show us this. I undestand that b&2 would "hide" the tree, but maybe selective desat? I read on the forum that there is a way to do it and it still would be within the rules.

I give you a 5, why? There are shots of tree faces in this chalange that are better.
Don't give up, shoot and experiment :)

I'm generally not a fan of angle shots, but it works very well in this instance. 8
