Typically, given the time of the year, this lake would be buried under several feet of snow. 2015 has been a very odd year weather-wise; global warming at its finest I suppose. We had a ridiculously hot summer and now the small amount of snow we have received has melted except for trace amounts which have blown into cracks (such as the one showing in this pic) and a small amount along the shoreline. It's quite a thing to see such a vast expanse of smooth, frozen water and this is only the small part of the lake! The ripples that appear to be water are ice as well, there are a few rough patches here and there but it's mostly smooth. Trust me, the ice is quite thick or we would not have been out there (we were very close to shore). None the less, it's quite a surreal experience to see the bottom of the lake through that crystal clear ice - with temperatures on the plus size of zero near the end of November. Strange times indeed.

8 from me. I'm assuming this was a candid shot? I'd like to see the man in full stride (could be dangerous on the ice) and a little lower so he wasn't on the horizon line. Besides that, I wouldn't change a thing. Very nice!

Fascinating. I'm inventing all sorts of stories for this image. Got my highest vote, along with a few others.

THANK you for that man... as a surprise at the end of the leading line... giving this the scale. 7
