 Passed through Neat Image and USM applied. I don't know what it's called but it's used in ikebana flower arrangements when it's ripe. I don't know if it's edible, though..


After voting: Now I've just found out what it's called. It's called foxface (among many names in Japan, at least) and is in the eggplant family. Originally from Brazil, it's in the eggplant family but inedible (as I suspected).
A fairly late and hurried shot. I put it on my doona cover in front of the window. The other lighting was my neon room light.

Definitely a bizarre little fruit. Nice soft lighting. An unblemished fruit would have made for a better subject, though.

Composing this on a plain paper background rather than a bedsheet would have helped the image a lot. The lighting also does not highlight the fruit at all but rather the sheet.
