My kiddos have been my occasional models for a while now. This is my oldest and I really wanted to involve her in the entire process on this one. She held the flash while we blew out candles and shot the smoke. She tried laying on the table in an effort to get her hair straight out - but we decided to go with this shot instead. Somehow I maintained her interest while loading the images, editing and cropping in LR, then merging and playing with different options in post processing.
She spoke her opinion and ideas and was humble but not shy about her creative input. A really nice experience. After she went to bed I decided to enlarge her eye and add a bit of smoke. That might have given her nightmares LOL.
As for the idea, it popped into my head but in retrospect I think maybe photoshop's splash window and Harry Potter might have been held up somewhere in my brain cells.

- Looking back at this image (now officially a ribbon! =) ... I am pretty sure aliens would either be WAAAAAAY more primitive than humans, or MUCH more intelligent and capable of things like impersonating other life forms. This image would represent an alien perhaps caught in the transition from one to another. VEry very glad this did well.

Thank you for the story.

Indeed, also reminded me of the Harry Potter environment.

What a fantastic creation process. It is so great that you managed to share the experience with your daughter: what better introduction to art could exist! I wish I can do so too with my own daughter on day. Thank you for the image and the story, very inspiring. And congrats on the nice finish!

Nicely done! Would love to see just a bit smoother transition from "solid" to "vapor" (especially along the neck), but that's just flat out being nitpicky. One of my top 5!
