 Made the leaf by taking a real sugar maple, tracing it onto white card, then using plain ol Elmer's glue and carefully broken chunks of eggshell to make the base of the mosaic. Then I used a paint made of mineral oil and food colouring and a small paintbrush to apply it. The mineral oil makes for a nice sheen on the surface.

Paperclipped the mosaic to a branch of its fellow real sugar maple leaves, then flipped it. Eh wala.

I can't say I really "get" this image, but there's nothing that really bothers me about it. The colors are nice.
