Thanks for the all the comments. Indeed most of you were right, these are bubbles. Very little PP and shot with a ring light. My plan was to reshoot some of my colorful bubble macros e.g.
but with different lighting and my newer 7D (vs the 20d I had). That didn't pan out too well so this went in. I quite like the vertical orientation with the negative space. Graphically an interesting shot and I'm glad to know many of you felt the same. Cheers!

Soap/detergent bubbles on the surface of a liquid, turned to the vertical. I think that the line is a border. You have produced a beautiful creation. I really love this. Bumping to 10.
