This shot was taken in my backyard using a white backdrop and gold reflector. I then pulled some colored printer towner powder into a syringe and asked my proder to launch it at my wife. I captured this with burst mode.
Disqualification Details
We cannot validate an image without an unaltered original, which you say you cannot give us. That you have other, unaltered originals from the same shoot doesn't change anything, I'm sorry. The reason we asked for validation in the first place is because it looks like a composite image, it's hard to imagine her right eye staying open through such a massive explosion of toner.

My top pick for the challenge - However, I am not sure why a DQ on this one. Clearly the explosions are a few inches from the face and I assumed there was a piece of glass in between her and the camera to give it this effect, thus allowing her to keep her eye(s) open while toner is exploding. With the fine details of the explosion the amount of photoshop editing doesn't add up for me. Now we may never know how this was done.
There are definitely effects which look like images are stitched together here. Also, the shadows don't add up (nose shadow is crisp on finger). Then the DOF - the nose and eye are in focus, but the toner in the same plane is out of focus. I believe this may be a possible image in one frame using glass, but there are too many questions, and thus validation is definitely required.
This is still brilliant. And DQ really shouldn't matter; check this photographer
imantas and specifically
That DQ didn't stop him from entering more and showing us all his fantastic photography.

I really like the idea and execution but you pushed the highlights in her eye a bit too far for my liking, unnaturally bright and distracting. I also wonder, the eyes instinctively close when something is "shot" in their direction... so how did she not flinch with powdery explosions on her face? The more I think about this last point the more the aqua looks pasted in and not occurring during the shoot.
