Challenge: Abandoned Buildings IV (Advanced Editing VII)

I heard about this location on the news one morning, and saved it off as a place to visit...likely when a challenge like this came up.

This is a new picnic area, across from a beautiful county park. The building on the left is much cooler, but the building on the right has some charm to it too.

Thank you all for the votes and comments. I didn't expect to end up with a top 5.

Specifically the comment about cropping the right. I actually have shot like that. But I found it too much like what I expected other photos to be. In fact, the blue ribbon winner is this style...ok, maybe I should have done that :)

This was a great lesson in backing up regularly (and automatically). My computer backs up each hour to my Time Capsule. Somehow I deleted the RAW and emptied the trash. When the original was requested, I was worried. Then I looked into my Time Capsule backups, and there it is, the CR2 file. Saved!

Congrats! In Wisconsin? Wow - I guess it has been a long time since I've visited this beautiful state although for a brief time there was consideration of attending the Lumberjack competition in Hayward this year. Anyway, I've digressed.... well deserved HM.

Congratulations on your high finish. Charming image. How neat that people can picnic here -- can taste the watermelon...

Congrats on the HM. Looks a lot like one of the old tin mines in Cornwall (England). Very nicely captured and processed.

I would, if I may be so presumptuous, lop off the right side of this image, as it seems to add little to the main attraction. The abandonment here is so ancient and complete that, as ruins go, this is rather jaunty, as if the remnants are engaged in a courtly dance. As such it's an image that's enjoyable to look at.

Maybe a touch too much sky, but a wonderful image nevertheless, bump.

I like your perspective of shooting low.

Great title!

What a mysterious place. It looks like it may have been claimed by fire and never rebuilt? Good POV choice to emphasize the "openness" of the remaining structure.

While the processing certainly accents the structures, it created some funky, unnatural clouds.

Still, a nice find for this challenge. Good luck.

I would love to see outtakes from this location. Did you try anything from inside the structure? Or near it?
