Thanks again to Phish for helping me out. It was supposed to be a saxophone, but he didn't have one. The problem is that it was a borrowed trombone, so he had no idea how to play it.

We tried a number of different shots, but considering I found out later that he was holding it completely wrong, I figured I shouldn't use them. :)

Note to self: do research before shooting!

I think stronger contrast could have been useful to give this more power and drive the viewer deeper into the unfathomable depths of his introspection.
