Challenge: Oil II (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Nikon D810
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
Location: Coarsegold, CA, in my front yard.
Date: Jan 25, 2015
Aperture: 16.0
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/50
Date Uploaded: Jan 25, 2015

Changed to LAB color mode, adjusted #2, blue and yellow. Cloned out a blade of grass stuck to it, returned it to RGB color and added my favorite border.

I'm taking down a large "Bull Pine" in a neighbor's yard that fell. I get the wood, so it's a start on next year's stack of firewood. It sure covered my hands in oily sticky sap, took gasoline to remove it. But it spawned my creativity for the "Oil II" competition.

I predict 4.8.

OK, you're right, it's not really oil. But get some on your hands! That'll change your mind. The photo doesn't really do justice to the sparkle from the sap when the sun hits it just right. Thank you! Did better than I thought. :)

Not quite oil, but a neat photo.

Is sap considered oil? Either way, I like the shot. The angle and circles really add interest. Good job.

To give this a fair run, I did some research. Nothing I fine points to tree sap being oil. Oil is hydrophobic, but tree sap is mostly water, so tree sap cannot be an oil.

The photo itself is nice.

It took me a moment to figure out what it was. Interesting subject matter though.
