Excellent shot this - really love the viewpoint and detail. The lighting is exciting and has made a mundane subject quite compelling.

Oh man, you got ripped off! This is so much more beautiful than the ribbon winners, I can't begin to say how much better this is!

This is still the first place winner in my mind. :)

Good image, but DOF could be abit better.

I love the color contrast of the warm colored shavings to the cool colored paper!! Definitely my pick for #1!!

Good use of depth of field in this one. I like all the texture in the photo too.

I really like the depth of field and lighting. They both really bring out the details and focus for the shot. Cool shot.

Very nice shot - I'm not even sure why.. My favorite so far. 9

Like the DOF, one question though: How many pencils did you go through to get such a perfect spiral? (6)

Its a nice idea of macro... but it would look better on white paper without these pink peaces. Then i would gave 6/7.

Great picture, the light reflects off the inside the sharpened off bit. I like where the lines are too.

should have places the pencill cutting a little on the side,so as to comply with the rule of thirds.it is moreover blurred and not focussed at some places

I get the jist -- but it seems a bit dark for my taste and the lined paper doesn't do the the photo the justice it deserves.

I like this photo, but I would have preferred it if the pencil shavings had been a little more in focus.
