Greetings from the Critique Club...

Hi Labuda :)

This is a nice nighttime architectural photo. It hits on a lot of things that I particularly like in any given photo, such as shapes and texture. It is also nicely composed and 'inviting' to the viewer to walk right into the scene.

One other alternative that could possibly work well here would be a lower angle shot, where the camera is closer to the ground. This often seems to work well by creating a 'larger than life' feel to your subject...

Keep up the good work :)

I wouldn't even WANT to go up those stairs at night!. It does make me wonder whats up there though.

Simple and elegant. Nice tones and lighting. I love simplicity. Well done.

I gave this shot a lower score at first, but kept coming back to it. One of the better shots in my book now.. it uses some great lines and shadow, and the clarity is absolutely brilliant. Looks like it was taken with quite a wide-angle lens, which was a great choice. (Although some may dock points for the curvature of the stairs at the bottom, which I like). Wonderful photo.

the curving lines add a lot of interest

Nice composition and perspective - makes for an interesting image and the leading lines of the staircase keep your eye in frame (9)

Great picture. Leads you right into the theme.

I kept coming back to this shot. Could not figure out why until I realized I loved the simplicity of b/w and the lines. I’m upping my score.

Excellent shot. Perfect curves and the right mood. Looks a bit too purple though, mb it's just my monitor
10/18/2004 03:40:27 PM
Love the eay you let my eye back to the building.

I like the "stairway to nowhere" notion of this. Grays are effective at conveying an edgy emotional reaction to night. Leading lines and composition generally work well. In the end, it's simply one of the more pleasing images I've seen. Among my top picks.

Good photo. A person leaning to the curved wall would make this image even better, well seen and well framed.

this is quite lovely - the shades of purple / violet are very pleasing, and the lighting is nicely effective. the damp on the stone steps is a bit of a distraction, and one can't help but expect to see a knight in shining armour somewhere in the vicinity of the frame. but all told, it's a stylish and atmospheric picture. 7.

I don't know if it will place at the top, but it is my favorite. I love the lines. Great Comp. Well taken. The only thing I would change is the title. I think it needs a more emotive title. I am drawing a blank right now, but I will think about it. Great work! 9.

this is bulls*it, its taken during the day, no question about it.
