Terrible score for a lovely image. It's crisp, clean, and has pleasant lighting.

I took a shot very similar to this of an elk, but I couldn't get the processing right. I ended up submitting a different one, that I also knew wouldn't score well, but I liked it better. When I saw yours in voting, I said, "Phew! Glad I didn't enter that other one." Yours is much better than the one I left on the cutting room floor. It very much deserves to have broken the 6.0 mark.

The trees frame the deer nicely.

Nicely framed, good moment and light - strikes me as a predator's point of view, maybe a mountain lion ready to rush out and take down the deer.
