Hmmm, ...lots of folks didn't like the composition, the heavy left side, or the tight cropping. I thought all three really worked for this photo. Perhaps it was the title that brought the whole thing together for me and gave the photo context. The inclusion of the mouth, but not the face, I though captured the essence of voice. We know our radio voices, but we don't ever see the faces or meet the people. Also the blackness on the right side called to mind the announcer's words going off into the void. He's there, he's working it, but he never really knows for sure who, if anyone, is listening. Well done.

I originally didn't like this photo the first time I saw it, I just kind of passed it by and didn't rate it.. Then about 10 minutes later I was just craving to see it again. I figured any photo that got into my head like that was doing something right. I still don't know that I "like" it, but something about it makes me want to see it.. you got my 10..

I thought for a few minutes there that I might make top 10. :) I appreciate all the great comments this round out. I really enjoy the DPC process. No matter where I place, it's a rewarding experience. Thanks for everyone's support.

I am totally dumbfounded, thought this was the Blue.

Nice. A unique idea as far as I've seen. A couple of nitpicks... The composition is disturbingly tight, though presumably intentional. I'd like to see some edge to the reflections on the right side (or no reflections at all). They seem to be floating in space.

I like this lighting and idea a lot. Feels a little "heavy" on the left hand side of the photo, but otherwise very cool

I'm sorry if my comment is bad, but I got the feeling that this picture is too close.. I can feel that my comfort.. It would be nice if the object is liter bid farter.. but I love the idea of the pic

I really love the warm tones of this shot and the lighting is fine but the balance of the composition really does not work for me at least not in this specific cropping...otherwise a great shot!

Really enjoyed this picture! This for some reason makes me think of a dark, jazz club in the 40's with maybe Billie Holiday singing. Great lighting!

This photo has a nice feeling of the 30's or 40's to it. Could be your use of colors..the silver and the red/oranges.

mouth is distractingly wide open.

I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about talking into a microphone, but it looks like the guy is trying to eat it rather than speak through it. The balance of the image is just too compressed for my taste. Otherwise, this is one of the better shots I've seen so far in this challenge. 7

The light showing through the mic on the right side works against the photo by dragging your eye inyo the black. It seems to me that the model is just pausing with mouth open rather than actaully talking. Other than that, very nicely framed, good concept. Worth reshooting.

Great idea! I wish you didn't crop him so tight. Nice, sharp image, nice composition, great colours and light. 9.

This came so close to being a 10. At first, I hadn't noticed the mouth. It should either be more noticeable or not in the frame at all. It's current placement almost seems intrusive. Exposure is dead on.

I like this idea and the lighting is great, but the composition isn't working for me. I think I would have cropped tighter on the right making the highlighted portion central.

Perhaps showing more of the mouth and not centering the microphone so much would improve this photo. Otherwise, I like the lighting and the idea

Nice lights... bit strange croping with empty space on right.

I really like this shot! Only complaint I have is that it's a touch *too* dark, losing deatail on the microphone. The blow-out you have on the bottom might have been helped by diffusing your light source. A great moment captured though, and pulls me into the photo.

A+ Photo. I only gave one 10 in this challenge and it was to you. I thought of this idea but couldnt find a mic! Brilliant lighting, setup, and exection.
