I was home alone ... testing a grid I made for the soft box
setup all the paraphernalia with the softbox, grid, radio remote for the flash, the tripod for the flash,
got dressed , upper part only , wearing shorts and bare footed
setup the camera on the tripod
put a dark drape over a window to lower ambient light
set the camera to manual focus on the edge of the sofa
set the timer on the camera to 10 secs
set it to monochrome with green filter filter
take a few test shots to set the exposure
composition varied a bit from frame to frame
my wife came home
after a few laughs
she helped press the shutter a few times
tried unsuccessfully to get boiling water in the cup to get some steam
Certainly an interesting pose. I really commend your for the spot-on focus on his face but I can't help but wish the coffee itself was more in focus (only because the challenge is supposed to be about the coffee) but overall it's a really great portrait.
Wonderful, "Godfather" lighting and expression. An almost perfect portrait, but the way he's holding the saucer really bugs me. Mixed messages: is he offering it, taking it back, protecting it....?
