I made a "soup can phone" using two Campbell's soup cans, string, and two buttons. I held the can in my left hand while I took the picture with my right hand.

Adjustments: Slight levels adjustment, slight crop

Thanks, arngrimur. Those are great suggestions for improving the composition. I also considered having her stand farther back, so that she appeared smaller in the frame, in order to emphasize the sense of separation, but for some reason I ended up going with this one.

This one should have ranked much higher IMO, it got a 10 from me. Still a good score for your first challenge. After looking at the shot again I see a possibility for improvement in the composition by having some space (sky) between the can and the arm to make the separation stand out and the focus on the connection which is the cord.

Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to see your next entries.

Love the shallow depth of field and the fact that you kept the label on the can. That adds so much to the picture and the red label balances the person's red shirt nicely. This is my favorite of the string-and-can photos.

Great depth of field and profile of person in the shot. I like this view a lot for this popular idea.

Altough the idea of the "soup can" was totaly over done in this challenge...your submission is quite unique and technically flawless... an 8

I like the label left on the can, the taught string, and the DOF.

There were more can-and-string shots than I expected in this challenge, but this is the best of the lot. I love the DOF and the near can suspended with no visible means of support. Also the Warholesque choice of soup.
