The first time I met my fiancee, she had a wonderful spark in her eyes; a particular happiness that when I asked her, she told me that it was the love in her eyes. I hope I captured it.
I took a cutout of a big pink heart, and put it on black poster board. We took many tries at getting the lighting and the angle just right. It proved much more difficult than I thought it would!
PP :
1) crop from the giant macro shot
2) some clonig out annoying reflections in her eyes
3) some cloning to make the heart shape a little more heart shaped
4) some healing to get rid of some lines and some freakles (my girlfriend loved this feature!)
5) slight USM (55% / 1.5 pixels / 3 threshold).
6) ran it through the virtual photographer plugin by OptikVerge Labs for Photoshop CS, and set it t the radiant filter, and then bumped the 'soft' setting way down
7) another crop, and then save for web.
I really hope this photo does well. It is much more processed than I originally set out for when I had the shot in my mind, but I think it came out really well. I hope the voters think so too!

Returning to make comments: Bravo to you for technical excellence. I'm quite sure this shot will find its way into the top three. I especially like the use of the very shallow DOF to keep our attention on the in-focus lashes surrounding the iris of the eye. I'm glad you avoided using selective desaturation on this shot. I think the emphasis would have been too "in your face." Besides, I appreciate the simplicity of B&W used here. My personal preference would have been to have seen a little more contrast to make the pupil black, but perhaps this wasn't possible due to the subtle tones on the skin. Either way, this is excellent work. 9.
