Since the topic of this challenge was an avatar, I knew I wanted whatever I created to be interesting and visible, even as a thumbnail. I think this will make a nice new avatar. :)

As for the sullen or angry expression...we have had a LOT of rain over the last two weeks here in Texas and while our lakes and rivers do need it, it's not my favorite kind of weather. ;)

Ya know, sometimes I get a tad tired of "looking at Sam" (or "looking at Christophe", for that matter) but I gotta admit this one's whimsically beguiling, and I'm sorry I didn't give it the score it really deserved :-( I never went back to recalibrate on this challenge, and if I had you'd have scored a coupla more points from me. Well done!

Nice job, Sam! Love the composition and lighting! Not your best editing/processing though -- hands grabbing the stem don't look particularly natural. The pissed off expression also doesn't quite fit for me. Still, a top 5 submission and likely ribbon winner.
