Typically, for an Expert editing challenge I work to come up with an idea and then try to figure out what shots I need. This one didn't work out that way. For this I had no idea what type of bird shots I might be able to get. I caught a couple quick shots of a sea gull when I was downtown primarily taking street shots, but I didn't give them much thought. I figured to get a good bird shot I would need to go to the aviary at the zoo, so I planned a trip there on the last day of the challenge. Unfortunately, a minor family crisis changed my plans and I never got there. So, Sunday night with a few hours left I figured I had nothing to enter. Then I looked through the shots for the week, and I came across one of a sea gull with spread wings. On the whole, the shot was not that interesting but I thought the wings looked nice. Then I started looking through the street shots for a potential back I could slap the wings on. I really only had one decent candidate -- this shot of an interesting looking woman crossing the street that I kind of liked. I put the two together, but I almost didn't enter it. I was really uncertain as to how DPC voters might react to this one. I'm glad I did. Thanks for the comments.

Love the nonchalant attitude (she's almost certainly looking at her phone) and if you didn't 'shop' her punky hair it was a godsend. Grats on the HM

Love the motion blur in her legs. Her placement in the crosswalk, and her dominance in the scene is terrific, although I find the whole thing oversharopened
