 Well, it's been awhile since I have entered a challenge. I drop by almost everyday but only just to take a peek. As with many of the DPC'ers of the past who, I suspect, sort of dropped out of this place because....never mind. That discussion has been done by many over the last couple of years. My interest has been piqued again by the refreshing attempts of some of the current users and members who are trying to breath more life back into this site. I appreciate it and I thought that this Masters' Free Study was a good time to give it a try again. Maybe I'll shoot for another couple of challenges this month as well.

As for this shot, I have been wanting to shoot this pier for quite some time now. A couple of days ago I saw on satellite pics that the weather looked like it might produce some good skies for sunset so I made a spur of the moment decision to head down to The Keys for this shot and I wasn't disappointed. Everything turned out pretty much perfect. The only nerve wracking thing was my concern that somebody would just have to walk out onto the pier for sunset at exactly the wrong time for me. There were two pairs of people who showed up just before sunset but they were extremely courteous and concerned about being in my way. Although I had already taken numerous shots, I told them that my target was around about five minutes after sunset. They made sure that they were clear well before that and I promised to send them a copy of the finished version.

Spectacular colors in the sky and reflected back in the water; also the rich red-brown of the pier. The lampposts are a motif that adds interest. I love seeing the lake/ocean bottom through the clarity of the water. The blue and yellow boat is a distraction, in my opinion.
