Odd shaped shots never do well- so I commend you for the crop.
I think this all works extremely well to transfer what it must have been like to be there, to feel the sun, see the water drip.

Maybe a little heavy on the tonemapping/Topaz or whatever, but I love the shot, especially the dog walking poop sign.
