 Minus 2 degrees (Fahrenheit) on Wednesday morning at about 7:30.

The comments are absolutely right. This is too much like my recent Solstice entry. I spent a couple of subzero mornings tromping around looking for a good shot. Given the bitter cold not many were out. I sifted through my most interesting shots, and this one was the one I liked best. But, maybe I should have entered a different, more original one.

I love how you achieved the cold raw day feel of a street shot on the left, the unsettling gray, the perfectly overexposed sky, and yet, on the right, all the frenetic energy of a train station night shot with starkly deeper contrast. Congrats on the ribbon as well.

At first I didn't like this too much - the "negative space" on the right is very heavy. But I've looked at it more and the composition is very clever. It is heavy on the right and feels overwhelming, but it does give that sense of being there. One thing I may have liked more is for the person to be a bit closer. He almost feels like part of the background.

I'm guessing this is Mark Wiley? This looks like the same place as The sun low and weak :)
