What a tactile looking image, I can just feel that skin. Your zebra is very different (not to mention more co-opertaive) than the on I just shot [photographed!] - he wouldn't show me his eye clearly!

I was quite shocked to see this was almost identical, so I must have subconsciously have echoed it I think. Your DOF is far preferable though.

Lovely texture and a good viewpoint. I think the only way to have improved this would be to get a bit more light near the eye area and to get in even closer, edging out any sense of background context.

This is very "eye" catching! I think I would have cropped more off of the bottom to cut the ground portion out of the frame, but it's also nice just as is. How in the world did you get this close to a zebra? lighting could have been a little better, but you pretty much take what you can get with animal shots. Congratulations on a wonderful photo.

Wonderful textures and lines. The catchlight in the eye is a great addition. Composition is right on. It's one of my top 5.

Nicely done. It might look a liittle better if it was cropped tighter around the eye showing only the jaw, snout and eye as an abstract

Good artistic abstract shot. I you could have got rid of the triangle of grass showing between the neck and the jaw it would have improved things I think.

Fits the challenge well, good lighting, great crop, and the frame works for this pic. The zebra seems to be grainy or something - like it is a texture painting. I like it - is this how a zebra looks close up like this? Was this processed? Good luck.

is it the zebras skin or is this picture grainy?

Stunning photograph in b&w, as Zebras are. Perfectly composed by cropping to draw one's attention to the eye. Great texture capture, such sharp focus. I like the b&w frame. Great title. Fits the challenge. Hope you place high with this one!

Something about this picture I like. I think it is the use of the lighting - dark on the top of the head and light under the eye. Whatever it is ...it works for me . I would like to see mre detail of the eye....7

This is a great shot. I like the "texture" of it. I think the lighting could be a little better because it is really dark in the upper right corner. And the bright spot that show there is a little distracting too. 8
