I do love working with the bosc pears when I need to do a still life. They're so incredibly photogenic! And they just have so much character and personality!

So I knew I wanted pears; now what should I do with them? Especially 11 of them...

I've seen the dead pear routine a number of times in other photos on other sites, so I really didn't want to do a pear. Then I thought of the banana, then the chalk outline of the banana.

The problem was: chalk doesn't work on hardwood floors!! You cannot draw with chalk on hardwood (well, at least not on my hardwood floor).

My husband came up with the brilliant idea of flour!

So I put flour in a pastry bag, hoping to do it that way. It wouldn't come out.

So I had to roll up a piece of paper in a spiral, put the flour in, and try to shake the flour around a banana laying on the floor. After removing the banana, I used a knife to scrape the flour into a little more order. I really wanted a lower pov for the shot, but then the outline disappeared.

Wasn't sure about the lighting -- it seems a little underexposed some times, yet I like the moody feel of it. When I bring up the brightness, it doesn't feel quite right. Yet it still doesn't look quite right. Perhaps I needed just a little more direction lighting in certain places?

Thanks for all the comments!

Wonderfully creative image. These challenges are all open to interpretation. I interpreted it as being the actual number 11. Others didn't. What a boring world this would be if we were all conformists.
Go Team Les Bateleurs! Three in the Top 10!

No, dead serious, although I went ahead and removed my comments from the winners since the challenge is over.

I think I know who loves Bosc pears and uses them deftly in allegories and such!

Beautiful shot. Love the lighting and the softness of the pears in the background (voyeurs), and the great angle of the the pears checking out the "crime scene." What I love about it is that I didn't need the title to get it. Stellar work with a great sense of fun! 10
