Pt. Reyes Seashore is just over an hour away North of San Francisco. There is a wild herd of Tule Elk within the Seashore but a road runs through the preserve. I was lucky to find this beauty today. (I also found quail and redtail hawks; which one to enter was a tough decision)

Minimal post processing: minor levels, contrast. Some dodge/burn to bring out the background, as the fog was well in this morning.

Great find and capture. One small nit: the eye does not look sharp--it looks like focus was just a bit in front of it (body and antlers are sharp)

Even the antlers blend in with the environment.

Lovely picture. I really like the implied motion in your shot - I keep waiting for this elk to take another step! Very nice colors and composition.

Nice sharp capture of a wild animal...I wish the background was a litte more blurred to hightlight the animal or to express the movement that is occurring...

Doesn't look like he wanted company. Excellent shot with good focus and clarity. Not sure I would have cropped the foreground so much, but I don't know what you had to work with.

Good exposure on this image. Leaving the space on the right of the frame allows for the viewer to wonder where he's off to, good composition in that regard. -danny

I think you have done a great job of capturing an elk in true motion and what appears a natural setting. I don’t know if you got this shot at a zoo or in the wild but either way it is great. Great job, hope you do well in this challenge
