This is a prime example of why I dig a few pages deep into challenge results. What happened here? Must be that voters were looking for a bigger toothy grin. I totally see a smile, and the technicals are spot on. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but that kid just looks like a happy kid to me. Unless his hair is professionally colored, those streaks are actually from the sun (gasp). That means he's being a kid and being outside, maybe even spending time in the pool. Sounds like a life worth smiling about to me. |

Absolutely love this style and PP technique. There is a hint, and that is all it is, of a smile. Intrepid. Muted. The BG is to die for and the lens must be a f/1.4, possibly one of those new Sigma 85mm's? If not no matter. That top button done up adds a certain innocence, shyness. Perhaps there is no massive and obvious story telling going on which is what I am seeking in this challenge but the quality of the portrait overides perhaps even this bland requirement. Top Marks. |
