The night before rollover, I went out and shot the big diaper. It was boring, but there were only 15 entries at the time, so why not?
But then the next morning in the shower I got this idea to make it a more fun shot. I would leave the tripod alone for most of the exposure, then near the end turn it to create streaks. Since the dipper stars are the brightest, those would be the ones that would show curved streaks.
I got really lucky that the clouds of the afternoon started to clear out for the evening, and left me alone just long enough in the hour before rollover. So I attempted this thought, and after a few tries, I got the streaks I wanted.
My wife was impressed, which usually means good things for my score. Of course, with only 24 total entries, I could probably score a 5.4 and still get in the top ten :) |

I'm curious to know how you only got those big dipper stars to streak like that--nice shot! |

The curved streaks keep this from being too static. |
