wow...what a stunning image. composition, colors, timing, all--you absolutely nailed it! on the other hand, i can see where you got clobbered by the 'meeting the challenge' crowd. this is one of those shots where everybody benefits but you: we all get to view it and appreciate it, and you get the sacrificial score ;-) well, don't despair...just keep shooting and submitting! as long as it is good work and you don't let the scoring affect you, you'll be fine.

Kylie: Saw your post. FWIW, I voted this a 6, an above average vote from me. Thought the colors were great, and the duck looked very natural. I took off a point because I thought the connection to the challenge was just a "touch" weak (pardon the pun.)

Well, I don't see the "begging", in fact the duck's back is to us... Without the title I would have a hard time tieing the image to the subject of the challenge. In terms of the image itself, I would crop out the top 1/2 inch or so - enough to get red ot the one black reflection in the upper right. That'll concentrate the attention more of the duck and the water ripples without any distractions. Good luck in the challenge.

Brilliant colors in the feathers, and great light on the water. Great capture!

Beautiful photo! That duck has such a pretty color -- most I've seen are such a dull, dark brown!

A beautiful capture, good colors, lighting and DOF but I can't feel the touch.
