A collection of medical equipment along with our "mystery guest" -- there are probably 3-5 members who should recognize it...

Thanks all for your comments -- my "strange" object has never been identified at any of several "guess the object" games, yet there is a picture of one in my older copy of The Joy Of Cooking. I think I'll wait a week before I reveal all, however...

I did use the on-camera flash, and I also intentionally left the lighting a little harsh and cold to accentuate the metallic elements.

Critique Club Critique

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The strong use of diagonal leading lines makes a very powerful composition.

(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, makes it look even more like an exam room. If the white paper/cloth has been completely smooth, it would not have added so much texture to the photo.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a little harsh to me. I am wondering if you use the on-camera flash? On first look I thought that some softer lighting would have made the photo better. On second thought, this reminds me of a horror film...and maybe the harsh light was intentional. It does add to the creepy feeling one gets from that scarey looking instrument in the upper left.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. I wonder how this would have looked in Black and White. That might have given it that feeling of being from an old "B" horror movie.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. I do not know what that instrument is, but it totally looks out of place in an exam room.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. It tells a story, although a frightening one. Dr. Frankenstein anyone?

Yikes! That red-handled object looks like it's designed for more than just examining!

I'm thinking the object on the upper left is what is out of ordinary here??

This is an interesting image but the lighting on it is a bit harsh.. probably from an on-cam flash? - setzler

I gotta tell you this gives me the creeps! Does that say Bob Villa? This pic sorta seems unbalanced to me though.

What's the mean looking device at the top? Nice pic, background it a tad strong, and I'm not really seeing the challenge. What am I missing? 6 Swash
