 I was trying to think of what would be an interesting thing to put behind a drop of water. I thought of faces and how it would be fun to distort a face. Then I thought of "The Scream" painting and wondered if I could distort a face to look like the scream with a water drop. While I was thinking about it I remembered a large vase that came with some flowers my husband got me for Valentines day. I thought the shape would make the perfect distortion for a Scream face. I tried it out in a mirror and if I tilted the vase just right it would give me the perfect distortion. So I painted a large sheet of white paper to resemble the painting somewhat. Then I had my daughter snap some photos of me. The lights had to be just right too far back and they would not light my face and too far forward and they would put nasty glares on the vase. My hands had to be just right also to frame by face and block the glare from the strobes. I tried at least 30-40 shots I had a few that were almost right and I was about to give up because my daughter was losing patience with me. I told her 5 more shots and wouldn't you know it the very last shot I took was perfect! I do wish I had gotten the background a bit lower but sometimes you just have to be happy with what you were able to get.

This...is....BLOODY BRILLIANT! What a great expression captured in that vase! Lighting is fabulous with some nice tack sharp details of the edges of the glass and the wide eyes. Only critique is that I wish that more of the backdrop was like the scream with the black bottom portion it looks a bit unfinished. Still great idea and great lighting.
