Nice pair. I would have totally mistaken these for mourning doves and not even thought twice about it. But now that I look, they are very different. |

I actually had one of these as a pet.
A woman down the street from me was a bird rehabilitator she called it a ring-necked dove. The are not native to our area so she couldn't let it go.
I used to help her with feeding the young birds and cleaning cages. She gave me the dove and I had it for 8 or 10 years. It would call and coo every morning. Pretty bird and fairly easy to tame.
Thanks for bringing back a childhood memory. |
