Well I was gonna break the news by saying hard luck but it seems you already knew it was coming :)

I loved the shot. And so did the others. So yeah, believe in yourself.

Just lovely. This should be a promotional photo for something--the boats, the beach. Really well done.

critique club:

clearly the voters liked it, i didn't, the colors are great especially that golden sun, the lighting on the boats picks up the texture perfectly.

the composition is really bugging me, the house is just falling off the left side. the sign is halfway cut off, it just feels incomplete. you have lots of great little elements that stand out on their own, the boats, the light, the background sky, but in this case they don't seem to work well all together, and i think the house is the reason

Thank you so much for all the encouraging comments. I am SO tickled to be on the front page!!

Too bad it won't last. I'm in the bad habit of deleting my files without saving the original raw. Then I entered anyway thinking, "there's no way it will make top ten".

So I'm angry with myself but very excited this did so well. My first (if temporary) ribbon and personal best.

Lesson learned: believe in myself.

Thank you!

As the sun dropped and the holiday-makers went back to their hotels to party, the kayaks snuggled up to keep warm against the cold Pacific breeze. "Tomorrow," the told themselves each night, "tomorrow we'll get to go to Chile", but of course they never would.

Lovely light and atmosphere, but photos I like usually bomb. Sorry!
