Hoover standing on one of the 8 bridges of Neptune's Staircase, a series of locks in the Caledonian Canal.

I have the feeling I can do much more with Dodge and Burn in an image like this one, so many nice textures. Please advise. Thanks.

I don't think the poles are a problem because they help define the structure that he is looking over. I might be inclined to crop down a tad to eliminate the white curvy bits near the top. Hoover is a gorgeous little dog, you've captured his interest well.

He does seem to take on a human spirit... go Hoover go. I probably would have converted to b/w with this one, btw.... because of the blues.

Good one! With better angle. I'd Gaussian Blur the BG, possibly some of the FG. Otherwise clean.

A very sweet shot. As far as what you could do with the editing, I might add a slight vignette. Other people noticed the white pole behind him. I didn't notice that, but I noticed the white pole on the right edge of the frame. A bit of a vignette might take that down so it's not as noticeable. Otherwise, I tend to prefer a natural look, so I'm probably not the right person to ask.

... the pole ... mentioned below already.
I love the way the coat seems to "reflect" (?) the blue/black of the gangway. Have you tried a B&W conversion to perhaps get rid of the yellow/beige wall in the BG and see what a B&W would look like? Maybe even go B&W and then colour it with the blue that you see in the gangway now - I very much like that colour. Just an idea because you were asking for ideas. Don't knowe if it would improve your current image.

He does take charge doesn't he?

So cute. I concur with the aforementioned pole and human comments. I also love how even his tail is poised to jump toward whatever he is looking at. Most of the lines in the photo point to or intersect with Hoover except for the horizontal line in the foreground. I can't decide if it's a distraction or additional interest.

Such an alert looking fellow. I think his fur looks great - crisp and well defined. Agree about the pole but sometimes there's no choice. He's growing up before our eyes.

The light on Hoover's fur in this shot is really nice! I also like how well Hoover is defined and stands out (pun intended). One minor point of citicism would be the pole that seems to gro out of his back

Aw but I am growing to look forward to watch this little guy grow up via the great shots you show us of him. For some reason, his posture reminds me of a person leaning up against a fence watching something out of my view. You probably could add more by trying different types of pping to it but for me, Hoover can hold his own.
I didn't read what pixelpig wrote before I made a similar comment - how funny we see him as in a very human pose.

A man in a dog-suit, is Hoover. He looks completely in charge.

Hoover looks so "human" standing like that :)
