Experimental. 20mm lens with 6mm extension tube. I think the idea has some potential, but it needs to be worked out better.

Dennis asked about noise reduction. My experience with the D800 is that noise isn't a problem, because I'm pretty much always scaling down, even for large prints. There was plenty of noise in the full size image, but scaled down to 800px, the noise is averaged away. An 8x10" print would have also been fine. For a larger print, I would have needed to do some noise reduction. A bigger problem was manually focusing in a room that's only lit by a couple of 60w bulbs.

Since Kroburg asked...the ball was touching the lens hood.

Interesting pov. I think the ball is ready and willing for play time but the pooch isn't.

Makes me feel like a near-sighted mouse skulking behind the tennis ball. In other words - imaginative, effective pov

Great focus on the ball (how close to the ball was your lens?) and great DOF. I like the perspective and the tilted angle.

The D800 handles that high ISO pretty well, although it did not get good reviews in that area. Did you use any NR for this?

I like guessing the background

A very interesting shot and unusual in how you angled it - as others have remarked, the focus on the ball is excellent. Love the warm tones too - makes me want to stretch out on that room.

Really good control of DOF, to get the ball this sharp and everything else out of focus!

A dog's perspective, and a myopic dog at that. Nice perspective, and interesting to see you have enough DoF to get the ball in focus, but everything else in the bokeh.

Never heard of that type lens. Your experiment has some definite potential. Nicely done.
