 One weekend morning I went out like I normally do. My son in the back seat, as we find some places to go take photos. It was a very cold morning, so I decided we would not walk around, but rather find some places to drive which I haven't been before.

It had recently rained a lot, then snowed, which made for many ponds of ice in the local fields. A cool phenomenon that I was keeping my eyes on. As I was driving, I spotted this. I quickly stopped the car, and jumped out to take a number of photos of different compositions. This one, were everything was centered, kept pulling me in.

I loved the colors in the sky and the ice. I loved the barren feeling. And I really loved that the ice was making a reflection.

Editing for this was mostly simple, bringing out the colors in the scene. Then the expert part came in where I copied, pasted, and flipped half the image onto itself.

What fun this was! I ended up doing it to a number of photos because of the cool results :)

Wow, thank you all. These are some wonderful comments to go along with a score that I didn't think would ribbon (there are some shots that I like more than this in the challenge). It's always a really pleasant surprise when you wake up to the red text on the left side of the screen!

What amazes me is how quickly a normal image turns into a surreal shot, just by being symmetrical.

A lot to like in this image - the pastel tones in contrast to the stark silhouette of the tree, the reflection, the patterns in the ice in the foreground - creepy, somehow - and the overall mood which I find both quieting and disquieting. Voted earlier.

Rather simplistic and overly tall image. The sky doesn't go this image any favors as it is. An improvement might be to crop a 1/3rd off the bottom to give it some pop and detail. Removing the bottom 1/3rd makes it a much better image in my opinion.
