I should explain that this is the SIDE of the capital building, not the front facade. The wavy area is decorative stone on the Empire State Plaza, which is next to the Capital.

Beautiful!

The buildings on the side seem an odd contrast to the ornate and classic structure in the background. The walkway is beautiful.

As much as the foreground is wavey they are great leading lines. Well done!

The foreground is fantastic!

Lots to see here. This looks like a very difficult shot to me. I don't often try architecture, so I'm no expert, but I can see lots of detail in the trees & bricks & in that grand old pile of a bldg in the distance. A pale sky. Cold.

The 2 different architecture styles look a little unreal together & with no people in it this feeling of fantasy is stronger. The best part is the wavy courtyard & the optical illusion that it's not flat. The halos all disappeared in the larger size, but there is something wrong with the sky and there's a blue tinted area among the tree branches on the left. Still, a keeper!

That's incredible that such a grand view is only the SIDE of the building! Wow! What does the front look like?

My, this is ALBANY? How it has changed. :)
Good one, Neil, the wavy foreground ties it all together.

The NY capital building really looks like that? Wow. I would have guessed that was something in Disneyland.

Don't get me wrong, the photo is excellent. Not much I can say there. But that capital building, juxtaposed against the massive newer buildings and that wavy....that wavy...oh my God. What were they thinking?

This looks .... I don't know what to say, I first thought it was a miniature, doll's house or those model train type set up. Not sure if it is your pp, or the combination of things on the image ... It is really interesting IMO, somehow "unreal".

Abra thinks there is no distortion? Maybe I use the wrong terminology, but I thought the distortion adds to the whole strange feel of the place (buildings left and right really lean "in").

Is this as dizzying in actuality as it appears here? I love the processing on the pavement and buildings, not so much on the sky which has halos, a sensor dust spot (upper left) and a faintly blotchy appearance.

This is one heck of a crazy combination of architecture styles! Love the classic approach you took to this shot - lots of foreground interest and the imposing building behind.

Huge contrasts, in color, textures, architecture (modern rectangular, classical, modern waviness), emphasized by your processing. In the balance of it all the pavement is a bit overpowering, I think.

Wow this looks like a fun place to visit and take photos of. Beautiful architecture.

The central wavy floor/ground is very chaotic to the rest of the image details. That high contrast with the waves VS the bold square lines and forms of the buildings compete almost equally with each other. From this POV, the waves overtake the image even though it seems to be a very balanced comp. Interesting design choice for the area.

Pretty massive. I don't know where to look. Good but very central POV cleverly broken up with the foreground tiles. Not a person in sight!
That Siggy 10-20 is almost a classic UWA now.

wow lots going on here, a lot to look at. Im liking the big loose curves in the pavement pattern I feel it compliments and softens the rest of the square angles in the buildings. works for me.

What a relief to find a place not swampped by cars! An architect's dream. They never, ever show cars in their sketches for proprosed work even if the buildings will eventually be partly covered by the traffic.

Interesting textures. Normally I would consider something like this to be a little over cooked with the processing but it works well with this subject. There seems to be no distortion with the wide angle lens. Is this normal for your lens or did you rectify during processing?
