Non-Captive Yellow-billed Kite with flying termite catch in claws shot in the wild. 2000km road trip presented me with the opportunity to get this shot.

I actually worked a lot on this one for a change. Some interesting techniques especially to remove sharpening artefacts. RAW to TIFF. Mask Bird, Smart Sharpen, Topaz Labs DeNoise 5 BG, subtly enhance clarity using TL Detail 3 and TL Simplify 4 to remove sharpening highlights. Crop. Increase Contrast +10%. Increase Saturation +10%. Create Border. SFW.

Because there are 10 people (3's and 4's) who don't recognise the technical skill of this type of work or are vying for percentile placing improvements of their own shot. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it :) eg: Once I gave out my 7's, 8's and 9's I did not adjust them down because I was averaging 6.4 in the challenge.

Magnificent. Should have finished higher based on caliber of photo.

Funny lot, these DPC'ers. An 11'th best image only gets one comment through voting. Really not a Wildlife orientated environment I suppose.

Mooi, Harvey! Guessed it was you. Amazing that the wingtips are still not frozen at 1250 sec. I like the action feel of it though. Well chosen background. Fantastic shot.

I love that "blank" background! I wish, though, that the bird's eye were more in focus... it seems like the tail feathers are here...
