The front range of the Rockies. Carved by glaciers 15,000 years ago.

Better size here.

When the snow stopped, the sky started to clear. Then, the winds started to blow. There were a few moments before the visibility was reduced. This was one of those moments.

Just dropped by after a few months to see how the site is doing.

I see you haven't changed. You are the most INSECURE photographer the world has ever known. Your comments on the comments that people leave you are rediculous. Unless the commenter says "you are the KING OF WILDLIFE AND LANDSCAPES" you spew garbage. It is unbelievable how people put up with you.....sickening.

Lovely scene, lucky you to live in an amazing place~

You seem to have a problem. My photography in the Colorado Rockies involves a bit more than simply being here.

Congratulations on the HM, Richard. As usual, a fabulous landscape. It brought to mind 'Who can see the wind?...' Well, you can see it here.

Again a wonderful image of these mountains. Is this the view from your back garden, you manage to show these mountains again and again? Really splendid. Congrats on the HM!

WD! 8. and happy to see that it placed this high. All Earth is shaped by water, erosion, snow, ice etc. Glad it was appreciated RH!

Beautiful black and white rendition of this magnificent landscape and it certainly meets challenge description.
We who live within easy reach of active glaciers can see how they erode and change the land over which they expand and recede when we visit places we saw several years or maybe decades ago.

My favorite and I'm really surprised it didn't get a ribbon. It DMC in two ways: it's been carved by glaciers but also I'd say that snow is the effect of water without showing it.

Congrats on the HM. You're my other top pick next to Bear_Music's. This is a breathtaking image. Living at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, I think this definitely meets the challenge. Outstanding sir.

Just lovely, Richard. The title helped here, imo, since the snow, mist and clouds could also be seen as forms of water. Terrific range of tones and beautiful scene. Congratulations on the HM

Seems like anyone can just post a mountain shot these days and expect it to meet the challenge, nice pic, but as far as 'effects of water' well time will tell I guess, and most likely you will be on the front page, bc what do I know!

Edited bc of typo :)

I respectfully disagree with the tone and nature of your comment.

Beautiful bw. I expected to see more water worn landscapes. Is water vapor water?

My favorite of the challenge by far. I hope you don't get negative votes because of the snow.

Oh I do love a nice B&W conversion and you've completely nailed this one. Must have been spectacular to have witnessed the scene in person. Wish I could vote, but I hope others will give this the high score it merits.

First-rate B/W conversion, lovely image. To hell with the no-snow-and-no-clouds crowd! 9 from me, and Merry Xmas!
