 800 pixels is a limiting factor for landscape images. This is an experiment at simple, natural framing. Loses impact at this postage stamp size. Better bigger.

Thanks Estes Park News for publishing my landscape image from Wednesday, 12.19.12. in your Friday edition.

Your place was about where it should have finished. The first and third place are my favorites. I'm not really fond of the second place photo.
The branch on the left that reaches into the middle of the photo is a little blurry. IMO the photo would have been better without that branch poking into the middle. However, I do realize that it may have been impossible to remove. I have no idea how hard it would have been to get your clipper on it.

Gave it an 8. Loved the sharp snow covered firs with mixed light as frame. 1024px or 1280px on the long side would be ideal at DPC.
